Questions like “When is the right time?”
“How and where should euthanasia be performed?” and “What should we do for aftercare?” can feel overwhelming.
Dr. Heather Hester is here to support your family through these difficult moments, offering compassionate guidance and ensuring a peaceful passing for your beloved pet in the comfort of your own home.

How do I know when it’s time?
Many families grapple with the question of when the right time for euthanasia is. It’s a delicate balance—no one wants to make the decision too soon and miss out on cherished moments with their pet, nor do they want to wait too long and unintentionally extend their pet’s suffering. Our Quality of Life page offers valuable guidance to help you navigate this difficult decision, ensuring you can make the best choice for your beloved companion.

Meet Dr. Heather Hester
Dr. Heather lives in Millsap, Texas, with her husband, two sons, and many beloved pets. A graduate of Texas A&M University’s veterinary program in 2013, she co-owns Brazos Animal Hospital in Mineral Wells, where she provides compassionate care for dogs and cats. Throughout her time in general practice, she has had the honor of helping families say goodbye to their pets in the comfort of their own homes. Unfortunately, due to the demands of general practice, these special appointments have been limited.
Recognizing the profound impact that in-home euthanasia can have in easing the farewell and minimizing stress for pets during their final moments, Dr. Heather founded Serenity Pet Care. This service allows her to offer in-home euthanasia appointments outside of her regular hours at Brazos Animal Hospital, including evenings and weekends, making it more convenient for pet owners during such an important time.
Dr. Heather is a Peaceful Euthanasia Certified Veterinarian. She has completed extra training in techniques to make euthanasia as pain-free and stress free as possible.
